Biocon Ltd on June 24, 2026, announced that Duopharma Biotech Berhad, its partner, has been awarded insulin supply contracts worth more than MYR 225 million by Malaysia’s Ministry of Health, as per an exchange filing dated June 24, 2026.
The contracts cover recombinant human insulin, insulin glargine, and insulin aspart, which are used in the treatment of diabetes. Supplies under the agreements will be made through Biocon’s Malaysian subsidiary.
According to the company, the largest contract is a 3-year agreement worth about MYR 155.27 million for human insulin.
The Ministry has also awarded a 2-year contract valued at around MYR 18 million for insulin glargine and another 2-year contract worth approximately MYR 52.5 million for insulin aspart. The combined value of the 3 contracts exceeds MYR 225 million.
Biocon and Duopharma have been working together in Malaysia since 2016. Over this period, more than 120 million insulin cartridges have been supplied to facilities operated by the Ministry of Health.
The companies said these supplies have supported over 450,000 patients receiving treatment through Malaysia’s public healthcare system.
Malaysia continues to report a high number of diabetes cases. Data cited by the company from the International Diabetes Federation’s 11th Diabetes Atlas estimates that around 4.75 million people in the country are living with the condition. Government hospitals and healthcare centres remain key channels for insulin distribution in the country.
The insulin products covered under the contracts are manufactured at Biocon’s facility in Iskandar Puteri, Johor. The site produces recombinant human insulin as well as rapid-acting and long-acting insulin products.
Biocon said it has invested more than $600 million in the facility since 2011. The plant employs over 1,100 people and supplies products to Malaysia and other markets.
