
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured an overseas order from Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise in Nigeria for the supply and commissioning supervision of eight gas turbine generator packages, as per The Economic Times news report.
The contract was awarded following international competitive bidding and marks the company's largest single order for gas turbine generator packages on a supply-and-supervision basis in both quantity and value.
As part of the project, BHEL will manufacture and supply 8 gas turbine generator packages while also supervising their erection and commissioning at the project site.
The equipment will be produced at the company's manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
According to BHEL, this is the largest order it has secured for gas turbine generator packages under a supply-and-supervision model.
The company said the project enhances its international visibility and reinforces its capabilities as a global engineering enterprise.
The order has been placed by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise, part of the Dangote Group, one of Africa's largest diversified business groups.
The conglomerate has operations across oil refining, petrochemicals, fertilisers, cement, sugar and packaging.
BHEL has executed power sector projects in Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Rwanda, Senegal and Sudan, while also supplying equipment to several other African countries.
In Nigeria, the company had earlier supplied and supervised the commissioning of a 26 MW gas turbine generator package for the Government of Cross River State.
BHEL has been manufacturing and supplying gas turbines for more than four decades and is among the world's leading manufacturers in this segment.
To date, the company has supplied nearly 250 gas turbines, with more than 20% delivered to customers outside India.

As of 29 July 2026, at 1:00 PM, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited share price was trading at ₹405.10 per share, reflecting a decline of 0.16% from the previous trading session.
The latest order adds another international project to BHEL's portfolio while strengthening its presence in Africa. It also represents a significant milestone for the company's gas turbine business, combining manufacturing expertise with long-standing experience in executing overseas power sector projects.
