Bharti Airtel Limited announced on February 11, 2026, the launch of an AI powered Fraud Alert system aimed at preventing bank frauds linked to OTP leakages.
The feature is designed to provide real time protection to customers against scams involving misuse of one time passwords.
The new system operates at the network level and identifies potentially risky situations during incoming calls. If a bank OTP is detected while a customer is on a suspicious call, Airtel triggers a fraud alert check warning the user about the risk of sharing a banking transaction OTP.
The intervention is intended to give customers time to verify the request before proceeding with any transaction.
Fraudsters often exploit urgency linked to routine services and persuade users to disclose OTPs, leading to unauthorised banking transactions. Airtel’s AI driven solution combines automated detection with user confirmation to reduce such risks.

The feature is currently live in Haryana and will be extended to 100% of Airtel customers over the next 2 weeks. According to the company, extensive trials were conducted to assess the system’s accuracy and effectiveness in identifying fraudulent scenarios.
Over the past 2 years, Airtel has introduced AI based spam call warnings and malicious link blocking measures. Despite reductions in certain types of fraud, scams involving impersonation and social engineering have continued, prompting the launch of this additional protection layer.
Headquartered in India, Airtel serves over 600 million customers across 15 countries in India and Africa. The company also has a presence in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka through associate entities. Its services include 4G and 5G mobile connectivity, Wi Fi services with speeds up to 1 Gbps, digital payments, enterprise solutions, cloud services and passive infrastructure through its subsidiary Indus Tower Ltd.
As of February 11, 2026, at 1:27 PM, Bharti Airtel share price on NSE was trading at ₹2,015.00 up by 0.18% from the previous closing price.
The AI powered Fraud Alert system adds a network level safeguard against OTP related bank frauds. With phased rollout to all customers within 2 weeks, the initiative forms part of Airtel’s broader digital security measures.
