Atul Auto Limited has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Exponent Energy Private Limited for the manufacturing and supply of electric 3-wheelers.
The agreement involves production of 15,000 vehicles integrated with Exponent’s battery system and powertrain over a period of three years, subject to regulatory approvals.
Order Size and Execution Details
The total value of the agreement is estimated at around ₹490.50 crore, including the cost of battery systems and powertrain.
Each vehicle is priced at approximately ₹3.27 lakh (excluding GST). The execution timeline will be a period of 3 years begins from the receipt of state transport authority approvals. The said period is extendable by an additional grace period of 6 months for completion of the volume commitment.
Under the collaboration, Atul Auto will act as the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), handling vehicle manufacturing, assembly, quality checks, and final delivery.
Exponent Energy will provide the battery system and powertrain, along with its rapid charging technology capable of enabling faster turnaround for commercial EVs.
Strategic Implication
The partnership is expected to strengthen Atul Auto’s positioning in the electric three-wheeler segment, a category witnessing rising adoption due to lower operating costs and supportive policy environment. Integration of advanced battery technology and rapid charging capability could enhance product competitiveness and support wider market acceptance.
