Ather Energy scooters are set to be available to eligible Armed Forces personnel through the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) portal from September 2026, as per The CNBC TV18 report.

The arrangement will allow eligible buyers to purchase selected Ather electric scooters through the CSD platform. The listed models will carry company discounts, along with applicable GST benefits available on purchases made through the CSD channel.

Eight Variants Listed

The CSD platform will offer eight variants from Ather Energy’s 450 and Rizta scooter ranges. The Ather 450 Apex has not been included in the listing.

The 450 range is Ather’s performance-focused scooter line, while the Rizta is its family-oriented offering. The company currently has nine variants across the two ranges, with eight now listed for CSD purchases.

Among First EV Two-Wheeler Makers on CSD

Ather is among the first two electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India to have its products listed on the CSD platform. The listing adds another sales channel for the company and makes its scooters available to a separate category of eligible buyers.

Eligible Armed Forces personnel and their families can use the CSD channel to purchase the listed models, subject to the terms and benefits applicable through the platform.

Company Comments on the Listing

Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, said the company had partnered with CSD to make its scooters available to the Armed Forces community.

He said the listing would allow eligible personnel and their families to access Ather scooters through an existing purchase platform. The company also said the CSD channel would add to the availability of electric two-wheelers across India.

Ather’s Current Portfolio

Ather Energy was founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain and launched its first electric scooter in 2018. Its current product portfolio includes the 450 series and the Rizta, which was introduced in 2024.

The company also operates the Ather Grid charging network, which it describes as India’s widest two-wheeler fast-charging network.
