Ashok Leyland has received an arbitral award of ₹222.65 crore in its case against Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), according to a regulatory filing dated 13 July 2026. The order was passed by the Arbitral Tribunal in New Delhi.

Besides the principal amount, the tribunal awarded interest at 10% per annum for the pre-arbitration period, during the arbitration proceedings and from the date of the award until payment. Legal costs of ₹2.96 crore have also been awarded to the company.

Case Linked to Bus Supply Contracts

The dispute relates to buses supplied by Ashok Leyland to DTC between 2009 and 2011 under contracts awarded through a tender process. Differences over payments and contractual claims led the company to invoke arbitration in 2013.

The proceedings continued for several years before the tribunal delivered its majority award on 6 July 2026.

Part of Original Claim Allowed

Ashok Leyland had sought compensation of ₹445 crore in the arbitration. DTC, in turn, had filed a counterclaim of ₹136 crore. The tribunal allowed claims worth ₹222.65 crore in favour of Ashok Leyland while rejecting DTC's counterclaim in full.

The award does not cover the company's entire claim, leaving part of the original amount unresolved.

Company Yet to Assess Final Receivable

The company said it is reviewing the tribunal's order to determine the final amount receivable after adding the applicable interest. It is also examining the options available regarding the balance of its claims that were not awarded.

Ashok Leyland stated that the financial implications of the order are still being assessed. The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

As of July 13, 2026, 3:01 pm, Ashok Leyland Ltd share price was trading at ₹159.35, up 1.18% from the previous closing price.

Conclusion

The tribunal has awarded Ashok Leyland part of its original claim while rejecting DTC's counterclaim. The company is now assessing the financial impact, including interest, and reviewing the award in detail.
