Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited has strengthened its municipal infrastructure portfolio after one of its subsidiaries received a major solid waste management contract from the Thane Municipal Corporation, expanding its presence in long-term urban services projects.
Project Scope and Contract Structure
The contract has been awarded to Antony Lara Enviro Solutions Private Limited, a subsidiary of Antony Waste Handling Cell. It involves the development of a 600-800 tonnes per day mixed municipal solid waste pre-processing plant on a Design, Build, Operate and Transfer (DBOT) basis at Atkoli in Bhiwandi taluka, on land owned by the civic body.
The scope of work also includes operation and maintenance of the facility for a period of 10 years. The total contract value is estimated at approximately ₹329.45 crore.
Capital expenditure and reimbursement.
The project will require a capital expenditure of around ₹67 crore, which will be reimbursed by Thane Municipal Corporation in phases upon achievement of defined milestones, in line with the tender terms.
The facility will house a material recovery system for segregation and pre-processing of mixed municipal solid waste, covering design, engineering, construction, commissioning and sustained operations.
Strategic Relevance
The contract adds to Antony Waste’s long-duration municipal concessions and improves revenue visibility through annuity-style operations.
The project aligns with the company’s strategy of expanding integrated waste management capabilities with a focus on processing and recovery infrastructure.
