Alkyl Amines Chemicals Ltd has temporarily halted the production of certain chemicals at 3 of its manufacturing facilities due to a shortage of ammonia, a key raw material used in several of its products.
The disclosure was made through a regulatory filing dated 16 March 2026.
The suspension affects the company’s plants at Patalganga in Maharashtra, Kurkumbh in Maharashtra, and Dahej in Gujarat. Production of methylamines, ethylamines and related derivatives at these sites has been stopped for the time being.
The company informed stock exchanges that the disruption has been triggered by developments in international supply chains linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
According to the company’s disclosure, the ongoing conflict has affected global logistics networks and supply routes for crude oil and petrochemical products.
This situation has disrupted the availability of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), which is used as a feedstock for producing ammonia. The shortage of LNG has in turn affected ammonia production and supply in global markets.
Several ammonia manufacturers have declared force majeure, indicating that they are unable to meet supply commitments during this period.
Ammonia is a key raw material used by Alkyl Amines to manufacture methylamines, ethylamines and certain downstream derivatives.
Due to the limited availability of ammonia, the company has temporarily suspended the manufacture of these products at the affected plants. The company described the situation as a force majeure event arising from the geopolitical conflict that has disrupted supply chains.
However, other products manufactured at these facilities that do not require ammonia will continue to be produced.
Alkyl Amines said it is closely tracking developments in the supply situation and is exploring alternate arrangements to procure ammonia.
The company added that the disruption is an ongoing event, and it will inform stock exchanges of any material updates or operational changes.
