Afcons Infrastructure Secures LoA for ₹1,918 Crore Desalinated Water Tunnel Project in Mumbai

Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. has secured a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the design and construction of a desalinated water conveyance tunnel in Mumbai.
As per the exchange filings, the project, valued at ₹1,918 crore, includes GST and operation & maintenance (O&M) and is expected to strengthen Mumbai's long-term water supply infrastructure.
Wins ₹1,918 Crore Water Infrastructure Contract
According to the company, the project involves constructing a desalinated water conveyance tunnel connecting the proposed Water Pumping Station at Manori to Charkop, extending further to Mahavir Nagar (Kandivali).
The tunnel is designed to transport desalinated water and improve water availability across Mumbai.
Project to Strengthen Mumbai's Water Supply
Mr Krishnamurthy Subramanian, Executive Chairman, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, stated, "The desalinated water conveyance tunnel is a critical step towards ensuring sustainable water supply for Mumbai and stands as a testament to our engineering excellence and execution capabilities."
Mr S Paramasivan, Managing Director, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, stated, "We are honoured to partner with BMC once again. Alongside the Kasheli–Mulund water conveyance tunnel, this complex desalinated water tunnel project will be executed on time while maintaining the highest standards.”
Strong Track Record in Water Infrastructure
Afcons said it has executed and is currently delivering several water infrastructure projects across India, including BMC's Kasheli–Mulund underground water conveyance tunnel, CIDCO's treated water tunnel in Navi Mumbai, rural water supply projects in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, and the Annaram Barrage in Telangana.
Internationally, the company has completed water supply projects in Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Benin and Rwanda, strengthening its presence in sustainable infrastructure development.

Afcons Infrastructure Share Price Performance
As of August 06, 2026, at 3:03 PM, Afcons Infrastructure share price closed at ₹278.90 per share, reflecting a decline of 0.71% from the clsoing price.

The ₹1,918 crore BMC contract further strengthens Afcons Infrastructure's order book and reinforces its position in India's water infrastructure sector.
