Adani Energy Solutions Share Price in Focus After CCI Approval for ₹3,050 Crore IntelliSmart Deal

Adani Energy Solutions has received the Competition Commission of India's approval to acquire IntelliSmart Infrastructure for ₹3,050 crore. The deal will give AESL complete ownership of the smart metering company.
The acquisition was announced in June 2026. IntelliSmart's existing shareholders are the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL).
Full Stake Acquisition from NIIF and EESL
AESL will acquire 100% of IntelliSmart's equity share capital from NIIF and EESL. The transaction also includes the redemption of optionally convertible debentures held by NIIF.
The company had entered into a binding securities purchase and subscription agreement for the deal. The total transaction value stands at ₹3,050 crore.
IntelliSmart Adds to AESL's Smart Metering Business
IntelliSmart provides advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solutions for electricity distribution. Its operations also include the deployment of certain smart gas meters in India.
The acquisition will bring these operations into AESL's existing energy infrastructure business. AESL already has operations across electricity transmission and distribution along with its presence in advanced metering infrastructure.
Acquisition Expands AESL's Market Presence
The takeover adds IntelliSmart's smart metering operations to AESL's portfolio. It also gives the company a larger presence in India's electricity metering segment through the addition of an established AMI business.
