Vedanta Oil and Gas had a stronger quarter on the earnings front, even as production remained below last year’s level. The company reported revenue of ₹2,486 crore for Q2 FY27, up 7% from the year-ago period.

EBITDA rose at a faster pace, climbing 34% to ₹1,393 crore. Profit after tax stood at ₹746 crore.

Higher earnings, lower production

The improvement in earnings came alongside higher price realisations and continued cost optimisation, according to the company. Average oil price realisation reached $93 per barrel, compared with $66.1 a year earlier.

Production, however, was lower. Average daily gross operated production stood at 72.2 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd), down from 89.1 kboepd in Q2 FY26.

Vedanta Oil and Gas said well interventions and artificial-lift optimisation helped manage declines at its mature fields. It also reported a positive reversal in the production trend at the Ravva field over the past four to six months.

Three discoveries in Rajasthan

The company notified three discoveries in Rajasthan during the first half of FY27, covering deep-gas and shallow-oil intervals in the Kaameshwari, Saraswati and Raageshwari fields. Their commercial potential is still being evaluated.

Its project pipeline also includes deepwater exploration on the East Coast, ASP injection in Rajasthan North and exploration work in the Northeast. The company has also been awarded two offshore blocks in the Krishna Godavari Basin under the DSF IV round, subject to the required transfer process.

As of October 30, 2026, at 1:24 PM, Vedanta Oil & Gas share price was trading at ₹31.40 per share, reflecting a 12.99% surge from previous closing price.

Conclusion

The quarter brought better earnings for Vedanta Oil and Gas, supported by stronger realisations and cost discipline. The lower production figure remains an important part of the picture, while the company works to improve output from existing fields and progress its exploration projects.
