
ABB has launched its Proteus portfolio of power conversion solutions for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS), targeting growing global demand for renewable energy infrastructure and grid integration technologies.
The company said the new portfolio delivers power conversion efficiency of up to 99.45% and is designed for utilities, renewable energy developers and power producers worldwide.
ABB will showcase the new Proteus solar inverter at Intersolar 2026, scheduled to be held in Munich, Germany, from June 22 to June 25.
According to ABB, the Proteus portfolio includes solar inverters, converter stations, and advanced control systems designed to maximise energy yield while supporting long-term operational reliability.
The solutions feature ultra-low total harmonic distortion (THDi) below 0.7%, hybrid liquid and air-cooling technology, and compact system architecture aimed at reducing installation complexity and transportation costs.
For battery energy storage applications, ABB's portfolio includes bi-directional converter stations and control systems with grid-forming and black-start capabilities to support grid stability and continuous power supply.
ABB cited International Energy Agency estimates that utility-scale renewable electricity generation is expected to grow by 60% over the next 4 years, increasing demand for reliable power conversion and grid integration solutions.
The company said rapid expansion of utility-scale solar projects in markets including India, China and the United States is driving demand for high-efficiency renewable energy technologies.
ABB added that it has installed more than 120 GW of power conversion capacity globally and operates in over 70 countries, supporting utilities, engineering firms and renewable energy developers.

ABB India share price was trading at ₹7,181.50, up 0.24%, at 1:20 PM on June 18, 2026.
Over the past 1 week, ABB India share price has gained 6.94%, compared with Nifty’s Next 50 index 5.91% returns during the same period.
The stock has delivered returns of 12.03% over 1 month, 38.80% on a year-to-date basis and 18.88% over the past 1 year.
