Infosys, TCS Among Top Tech Firms Leading U.S. H1B Visa Share in 2024

Infosys, TCS, and other Indian-origin tech firms secured a significant 20% of the total U.S. H1B visas issued in 2024, with Infosys and TCS leading the list.
Overview of Indian Firms’ H1B Visa Share
According to data from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The period from April to September 2024 saw 1.3 lakh H1B visas issued, with Indian-origin companies being major beneficiaries, particularly in the tech sector.
Infosys emerged as the leader among these companies, securing 8,140 H1B visas, followed by Tata Consultancy Services with 5,274. HCL America and Cognizant also had significant numbers, with 2,953 and 6,321 visas, respectively. The largest recipient overall was Amazon Com Services, which topped the list with 9,265 visas.
Meanwhile, Wipro has consistently ranked among the top employers for H1B visa holders, securing 1,634 visas in 2024. Tech Mahindra also saw strong participation with 1,199 visas, reinforcing the influence of Indian firms in the U.S. tech labour market.”
Policy Changes Impacting H1B Program
While these firms continue to benefit from the H1B program, ongoing policy changes and public sentiment around foreign workers are expected to shape the future of the program.
Going forward, all eyes will be on Donald Trump as he assumes the role of U.S. President in an iconic inauguration on January 20.
Share Price Performance
Infosys’ share price traded 0.02% higher at ₹1,939.20 at 3:05 PM on the NSE, while TCS’ share price traded 0.03% lower at ₹4,098.70. Wipro’s share price was down 0.08% at ₹294.20, while Tech Mahindra slipped 0.07%, trading at ₹1,688.20.
