The Indian stock markets, BSE and NSE, will stay closed for trading on two occasions in August 2025, excluding weekends. This is based on the NSE’s official holiday calendar.

Share Market Holidays in August 2025

  • August 15 (Friday) – Independence Day
  • August 27 (Wednesday) – Ganesh Chaturthi

On these days, no trading activities will be carried out on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) or the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Commodities and Currency Markets Also Closed

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and currency derivatives markets will also remain shut on August 15 and August 27, in line with the stock market holidays.

On Monday, July 28, 2025, Indian stock markets trimmed their early losses as selling pressure continued, especially in major IT stocks like TCS, Infosys, and HCL Tech. Investor sentiment remained cautious ahead of the upcoming tariff deadline later this week.

As of 12:00 PM, the Sensex was trading at 81,335.04, down 128 points or 0.16%, while the Nifty 50 slipped 28 points or 0.11% to 24,808.55.
