Many employees lose track of older Provident Fund (PF) accounts after changing jobs multiple times. While the Universal Account Number (UAN) was introduced to bring all PF accounts under a single identity, some older accounts may remain unlinked because of incomplete transfers, incorrect employer details, or legacy records. These issues often surface only when members apply for PF withdrawals, transfers, or pension benefits.
To help members identify such gaps in advance, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced the Service History feature on its upgraded Unified Member Portal. The new tool allows users to review their employment records in one place and spot any missing PF accounts before they become a hurdle during claim processing.
The Service History feature displays a member's complete employment timeline linked to their UAN. It includes details of previous and current employers, dates of joining and exit, along with EPF and Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) service records.
By reviewing this information, members can easily determine whether every employer they have worked with is reflected in their UAN. If an employer or service period is missing, it could indicate that an old PF account has not been linked properly.
Members can access the feature by logging into the EPFO Unified Member Portal using their UAN and password, completing OTP authentication, and selecting the Service History section.
While reviewing the records, users should verify employer details, employment dates, EPF and EPS records, and check for any missing service periods or incorrect information. The records can also be downloaded for future reference.
If a previous employer or PF account does not appear in the Service History, members should contact their former employer to verify the Member ID or earlier UAN. Employers can retrieve or update the missing information through the EPFO employer portal.
If required, members can also use EPFO's Aadhaar-based E-PRAAPTI platform to trace forgotten PF accounts and link them to their existing UAN.

EPFO's Service History feature offers members a simple way to trace old PF accounts and ensure their employment records are complete. By identifying missing accounts early, employees can avoid delays in PF withdrawals, transfers, and pension claims while maintaining uninterrupted service records across multiple employers.
