HDFC Mutual Fund August 2026 Holdings: ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank Lead Portfolio

HDFC Mutual Fund had Assets Under Management (AUM) of ₹10.08 lakh crore at the end of August 2026. It was the third-largest AMC and managed 139 funds, according to The Economic Times news report citing Motilal Oswal Financial Services report
The report showed that banking stocks made up the biggest allocations among the fund house’s 10 largest stock holdings. ICICI Bank had the highest weight at around 5.9%.
Bank Holdings
HDFC Bank was the second-largest holding at 4.6%, while Axis Bank accounted for 3.2%. SBI also had a 3.2% allocation in August, unchanged from the previous month.
HDFC Mutual Fund added around 20.24 lakh shares of ICICI Bank during August 2026. Despite the increase in shares, the stock’s portfolio weight remained unchanged from July 2026.
The weight of HDFC Bank fell by 0.3 percentage points during the month. Axis Bank’s allocation increased by 0.1 percentage points.
Kotak Mahindra Bank
Kotak Mahindra Bank had a 2.3% allocation in the portfolio. The fund house added around 13.13 lakh shares of the bank in August 2026.
Following the purchase, Kotak Mahindra Bank’s portfolio weight increased by 0.1 percentage points from the previous month.
RIL and Bharti Airtel
Reliance Industries had a 2.6% allocation in August, compared with a 0.1 percentage point lower weight than in July. Bharti Airtel accounted for 2.5%, with its weight falling by 0.2 percentage points.
Eternal was another major holding, accounting for 2.1% of the portfolio. Its weight increased by 0.1 percentage points during the month.
L&T and Maruti Suzuki
L&T had a 1.9% allocation in August, unchanged from the previous month. Maruti Suzuki accounted for 1.5%, with its portfolio weight declining by 0.1 percentage points.

Conclusion
The August 2026 data showed relatively small month-on-month changes across most of the 10 largest holdings. ICICI Bank remained in the largest allocation, while five banking stocks were featured in the list.
The other holdings included companies from sectors such as energy, telecom, technology, and automobiles.
