Bharti Airtel, led by billionaire Sunil Mittal, has introduced free Apple Music access for its prepaid users. This comes shortly after Airtel launched a free Perplexity AI premium plan worth nearly ₹17,000 per year.
Prepaid Airtel customers can now enjoy Apple Music free for 6 months through the Airtel Thanks app. After the free period, the subscription renews automatically at ₹119 per month. Earlier, this benefit was only for postpaid and broadband users.
Users can check the Airtel Thanks app to see if they qualify. Though Airtel hasn’t made an official announcement, the offer appears even for users on non-unlimited 5G plans, suggesting wide availability.
This move builds on Airtel’s strategy to add value with bundled digital services. In February 2025, Airtel included Apple TV+ and Apple Music for postpaid and broadband customers. Recently, it offered free access to the premium Perplexity AI Pro plan, enhancing user engagement.
The free six-month subscription acts as a strong incentive for prepaid users to choose Airtel over competitors, potentially increasing customer acquisition and retention. Post the free period, users will be charged Rs 119 per month if they continue with the Apple Music subscription, contributing to increased digital service revenues.
The move is expected to increase Airtel's customer base by attracting the younger generation, who is tech-savvy and prefers digital modes of entertainment.
