Uber has partnered with Adani Group to establish its first data centre in India, according to a statement issued by Uber chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi on Wednesday, as per news reports.

Khosrowshahi said the facility would support testing and deployment of technology products in India. The project is expected to become operational later this year. Uber has not disclosed the investment size, capacity, or location of the proposed data centre.

The announcement comes during Khosrowshahi’s 5-day visit to India, where the company is holding discussions with government officials and industry stakeholders regarding future operations in the country.

Meetings With Ministers

During the visit, Uber representatives met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss the company’s investment plans and business expansion in India.

According to statements shared by the company, discussions included the role of technology and mobility platforms in supporting India’s digital economy and infrastructure development goals.

Khosrowshahi also met Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to discuss airport transport connectivity and last-mile mobility services for passengers.

The discussions additionally covered cleaner urban transport systems and sustainable mobility initiatives linked to public transport infrastructure.

AdaniConneX Expansion

The partnership adds to Adani Group’s ongoing investments in the data centre and digital infrastructure business through AdaniConneX.

In October 2025, AdaniConneX announced a partnership with Google for an artificial intelligence-focused data centre campus in Visakhapatnam.

The proposed project is estimated to involve investments of around $15 billion between 2026 and 2030. The development includes large-scale data centre operations, subsea cable connectivity, and renewable energy infrastructure intended to support artificial intelligence workloads.

Telecom operator Airtel is also part of the ecosystem associated with the Visakhapatnam project.

The development comes amid increased investment activity in India’s data centre sector, driven by demand for cloud services, digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence-related computing capacity.
