On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the NIFTY50 index opened at 22,665.00 and went on to register an intraday high of 22,809.35. The index faced downward pressure during the session, touching an intraday low of 22,595.20 before closing at 22,620.45, down by 95.75 points or 0.42%.

The advance-decline ratio for the NIFTY50 index leaned toward the bears, with 17 constituents out of the 50 ending the session in the green, while 32 closed in negative territory and 1 remained unchanged.

InterGlobe Aviation Limited (INDIGO) ranked second among the top gainers, with its share price advancing 2.30% to ₹4,984.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 6,24,750 shares. 

ICICI Bank Limited (ICICIBANK) was the third top gainer, with its share price gaining 2.28% to ₹1,321.70 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 1,40,93,632 shares. 

Top Losers on September 30, 2026 

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (APOLLOHOSP) ended lower by 5.70% at ₹8,165.50 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 21,07,798 shares. 

Max Healthcare Institute Limited (MAXHEALTH) share price declined 5.33% to ₹929.80 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 1,38,15,752 shares. 

BSE Limited (BSE) shares fell 3.38% to ₹3,092.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 64,06,614 shares.

Conclusion 

The NIFTY50 index closed lower by 0.42% at 22,620.45. The market breadth remained negative with a weak advance-decline setup as 32 index constituents closed down. KOTAKBANK, INDIGO, and ICICIBANK emerged as the top gainers, while APOLLOHOSP, MAXHEALTH, and BSE were among the top losers on September 30, 2026.
