On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the NIFTY50 index opened at 22,732.45 and went on to register an intraday high of 22,753.25.  

The index faced downward pressure during the session, touching an intraday low of 22,569.65 before closing at 22,716.20, down by 64.05 points or 0.28%. 

Advance Decline Ratio of NIFTY50 on September 29, 2026 

The advance-decline ratio for the NIFTY50 index leaned toward the bears, with 17 constituents out of the 50 ending the session in the green, while 32 closed in negative territory and 1 remained unchanged.

Adani Enterprises Limited (ADANIENT) emerged as the top gainer on September 29, 2026, with its share price rising 5.01% to ₹2,972.90 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 17,72,536 shares. 

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (ADANIPORTS) ranked second among the top gainers, with its share price advancing 4.49% to ₹1,822.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 23,76,160 shares. 

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Limited (DRREDDY) was the third top gainer, with its share price gaining 2.53% to ₹1,251.90 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 49,23,543 shares. 

Top Losers on September 29, 2026 

Titan Company Limited (TITAN) ended lower by 3.00% at ₹4,675.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 11,87,969 shares. 

Wipro Limited (WIPRO) share price declined 2.95% to ₹156.79 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 16,23,28,569 shares. 

HCL Technologies Limited (HCLTECH) shares fell 2.44% to ₹1,222.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 55,91,772 shares.

Conclusion 

The NIFTY50 index closed lower by 0.28% at 22,716.20. The market breadth remained negative with a weak advance-decline setup as 32 index constituents closed down. ADANIENT, ADANIPORTS, and DRREDDY emerged as the top gainers, while TITAN, WIPRO, and HCLTECH were among the top losers on September 29, 2026.
