On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the NIFTY50 index opened at 23,446.60 and went on to register an intraday high of 23,494.95. The index held onto minor gains throughout the session, hitting an intraday low of 23,380.10 before closing at 23,477.80, up by 46.30 points or 0.20%. 

Advance Decline Ratio of NIFTY50 on September 10, 2026 

The advance-decline ratio for the NIFTY50 index was closely balanced, with 24 constituents out of the 50 ending the session in the green, while 26 closed in negative territory and 0 remained unchanged.

HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited (HDFCLIFE) emerged as the top gainer on September 10, 2026, with its share price rising 2.36% to ₹526.15 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 40,41,016 shares. 

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) ranked second among the top gainers, with its share price advancing 2.22% to ₹271.75 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 1,17,33,401 shares. 

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) was the third top gainer, with its share price gaining 1.39% to ₹237.27 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 1,22,66,974 shares. 

Top Losers on September 10, 2026 

HCL Technologies Limited (HCLTECH) ended lower by 1.85% at ₹1,207.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 20,75,656 shares. 

Hindalco Industries Limited (HINDALCO) share price declined 1.26% to ₹1,014.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 20,29,644 shares. 

Tata Steel Limited (TATASTEEL) shares fell 1.04% to ₹186.78 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 2,18,67,035 shares.

Conclusion 

The NIFTY50 index closed higher by 0.20% at 23,477.80. The market breadth remained mixed with a slightly negative advance-decline setup as 26 index constituents closed down. HDFCLIFE, POWERGRID, and ONGC emerged as the top gainers, while HCLTECH, HINDALCO, and TATASTEEL were among the top losers on September 10, 2026.
