The Nifty 50 ended marginally lower on Wednesday, December 3, closing at 25,986.00, down 46.20 points or 0.18%. Weakness in healthcare, FMCG and select large-cap stocks dragged the index, while IT and metals provided partial support.
Intraday movement remained narrow as the index oscillated around its previous close of 26,032.20, reflecting cautious sentiment across sectors. Despite the decline, the broader trend remains stable with the index trading above its 52-week low.
The benchmark stayed in a consolidation phase with mixed activity across sectors. Financials, IT and metals supported the index, while healthcare and consumption names weighed on performance.
Turnover remained strong across heavyweights such as HDFC Bank, TCS and ICICI Bank, indicating robust institutional participation. Over the past 30 days, Nifty has posted a gain of 0.77%, signalling resilience despite short-term volatility.
