Tata Power Solaroof Rooftop Solar Installations Rise 33% to 88,397 in Q2 FY27

Tata Power Solaroof, a division of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), installed 88,397 rooftop solar systems in Q2 FY27, marking a 33% increase from 66,447 systems installed in the same quarter last year, according to a CNBC TV18 report.
Solar Capacity Rises 15% in Q2FY27
The installations added 426 MWp of solar capacity during the quarter, compared with 369 MWp in Q2 FY26, a 15% increase. MWp refers to the maximum power a solar system can generate under ideal test conditions. While the number of installations counts individual systems, MWp represents their combined generation potential.
1.68 Lakh Systems Installed in H1 FY27
Between April and September, Tata Power Solaroof installed 1,68,530 systems, 50% higher than the 1,12,729 systems added during the corresponding period last year. Rooftop solar capacity increased 25% to 801 MWp from 639 MWp over the same period.
The company has now installed around 5,75,000 rooftop solar systems, with total capacity exceeding 5.67 GWp across residential as well as commercial and industrial customers. One GWp is equal to 1,000 MWp.
Uttar Pradesh Leads State-Wise Installations
Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of installations during the first six months of FY27, with 44,014 systems adding around 172 MWp.
Maharashtra followed with 22,165 installations and nearly 100 MWp, while Rajasthan added 21,275 systems and 99 MWp. Kerala recorded 15,477 installations, contributing about 65 MWp.
On a cumulative basis, Uttar Pradesh remained ahead with 1,16,254 installations and 528 MWp. Maharashtra had 73,578 installations and 1,041 MWp, while Kerala and Rajasthan had 69,734 and 44,798 installations, with capacities of over 310 MWp and 390 MWp, respectively.
Growth Linked to Rooftop Solar Scheme
Tata Power Solaroof said its expansion has supported the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, the central government's rooftop solar scheme for households.
Its Ghar Ghar Solar campaign has also been used to promote adoption. CRISIL has recognised the company as India's largest rooftop solar company for 12 consecutive years.
