Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Tata Electronics have announced a partnership to produce Qualcomm Automotive Modules in India, marking a step toward localising advanced automotive electronics manufacturing, as per news reports.

Local Production for Automotive Technologies

Under the collaboration, Tata Electronics will become a manufacturing partner within Qualcomm Technologies’ global module production network.

The alliance is aimed at enabling domestic production of technologies powering digital cockpits, infotainment systems, connectivity platforms and intelligent vehicle solutions, catering to both Indian and international automakers.

The modules will be manufactured at Tata Electronics’ upcoming Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Jagiroad, Assam, aligning with the government’s “Make in India” push for electronics and semiconductor localisation.

Technology Integration and Facility Investment

Qualcomm Automotive Modules combine Snapdragon Digital Chassis system-on-chips with essential system components into production-ready solutions designed to simplify vehicle system architecture and reduce development timelines.

Nakul Duggal, EVP and Group GM, Automotive, Industrial and Embedded IoT, and Robotics, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., said, “Together, we will support automakers with scalable, high-performance solutions built in India.”

Randhir Thakur, CEO and MD, Tata Electronics, said, “We will leverage our Integrated Systems Packaging solutions and deliver high-quality, high-performance products to support Qualcomm Technologies’ global product leadership.”

Tata Electronics noted that its Jagiroad plant is a greenfield OSAT facility being developed with an investment of $3 billion. The site will deploy wire bond, flip chip and Integrated Systems Packaging technologies to manufacture components for automotive, communications, IoT and AI applications.
