On October 10, 2025, SpiceJet Limited announced the addition of 3 new aircraft to its operational fleet as part of a large-scale winter expansion drive. The induction includes 1 Airbus A340 wide-body and 2 Boeing 737 aircraft, reflecting the airline’s commitment to meet the sharp rise in passenger demand during the upcoming travel season.
The newly inducted aircraft will begin operations between October 10 and 11, marking the start of SpiceJet’s significant fleet ramp-up phase. The airline plans to induct 20 new aircraft between October and November under a damp lease model while also ungrounding 4 aircraft by mid-December. This expansion aims to strengthen the carrier’s domestic and international network.
By December 2025, SpiceJet expects to more than double its operational fleet and triple its available seat kilometres (ASKM). The new capacity will support route additions, higher flight frequencies, and the introduction of new destinations, all designed to enhance connectivity and passenger convenience across India and abroad.
As per the exchange filings, Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, stated that the airline’s expansion marks “the beginning of a large-scale transformation in operations this winter.” He added that each new induction bolsters SpiceJet’s operational efficiency and passenger offerings, aligning with rising travel demand. The expansion will more than double the fleet and triple ASKM by the end of December 2025, signalling strong growth momentum.
