SJVN has successfully synchronised the first 660 MW unit of its 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project with the National Grid on August 21, 2025. This marks a major milestone toward the project’s Commercial Operation Date (COD).

Boost to Bihar’s Power Supply

According to CMD Bhupender Gupta, the project will help meet India’s growing energy demand and contribute significantly to Bihar’s economic growth. About 85% of the generated power will be supplied to Bihar, addressing peak-hour shortages and improving power availability in the state.

Strengthening SJVN’s Portfolio

Director (Personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma noted that the project will add to SJVN’s total generation capacity, further strengthening its energy portfolio with cleaner and more efficient thermal power.

SJVN Share Price Movement

SJVN share price (NSE: SJVN) was trading at ₹99.68 as of 1:05 pm on August 22, up by ₹2.33 or 2.39% for the day. The stock opened at ₹97.50 and touched an intraday high of ₹100.50, while the day’s low stood at ₹97.36. The company’s market capitalisation is ₹39,140 crore, and it is currently trading at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 56.96. While the stock does not offer a dividend yield, it has a 52-week high of ₹140.00 and a 52-week low of ₹80.54.
