The Tamil Nadu government has announced that Rolls-Royce will expand its operations in the state, as per news reports. The company plans to set up a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, along with a research and training centre. It will also increase production at its joint venture International Aerospace Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. (IAMPL) in Hosur.
Tamil Nadu hosts one of India’s two Defence Industrial Corridors. The industries department noted that the planned projects will add to the state’s position in aerospace and defence manufacturing. Rolls-Royce is among the few global companies engaged in high-end jet engine manufacturing for both civilian and military aircraft.
The announcement was made during the second phase of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s TN Rising European visit. The visit included discussions with companies across defence, aerospace, maritime, renewable energy, textiles, and design. Several agreements and investment commitments were finalised.
Lloyd’s List Intelligence signed an MoU to expand its Global Capability Centre in Chennai. The expansion is expected to create 200 jobs by FY26. Wilson Power & Distribution Technologies announced a transformer plant in the state with an investment of ₹300 crore and a projected 543 jobs.
Britannia RFID Technologies India will set up RFID tag units at Tiruppur and Namakkal with an outlay of ₹520 crore, creating 550 jobs.

In the education sector, Ecole Intuit Lab has tied up with Sakthi Excellence Academy to open a design institute in Coimbatore. The University of Exeter has entered into an MoU with the state for joint research initiatives and faculty exchanges.
The agreements made during the European visit, including the Rolls-Royce MRO facility, cover sectors such as aerospace, power, manufacturing, and education, adding to Tamil Nadu’s investment pipeline.
