Power Grid Declared Successful Bidder For Transmission Project At Davanagere

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), India’s central transmission utility, has been in focus this week with a series of important updates.
From securing a significant renewable energy transmission project to receiving an international credit rating upgrade and addressing shareholders at its 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM), the company has seen multiple developments of note.
Power Grid Declared Successful Bidder Under TBCB
POWERGRID has been declared the successful bidder under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding process to establish an Inter-State Transmission System for the project titled “Transmission system strengthening at Davanagere for Integration of RE generation”.
The project, awarded under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model, involves augmentation works at the under-construction Davanagere sub-station in Karnataka. The company received the Letter of Intent on August 27, 2025.
Credit Rating Upgrade By S&P Global
In a major boost to its financial standing, POWERGRID’s issuer and issue credit ratings were upgraded by S&P Global Ratings to ‘BBB’ from ‘BBB-’ with a stable outlook. The standalone credit profile was maintained at ‘bbb+’. This upgrade followed the sovereign rating upgrade of India, with POWERGRID’s rating capped at the sovereign level.
