According to a report by Moneycontrol, Ola, widely recognised for its ride-hailing operations, has put its food delivery service Ola Foods on pause, withdrawing it from both its primary app and the ONDC platform.
This temporary halt reflects a broader strategy shift as the company refocuses on its core mobility business.
Ola Foods, the cloud kitchen vertical of ride-hailing giant Ola, has stopped accepting orders through its app as well as the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
As per the report, this move is part of an internal re-evaluation, and it remains unclear whether the service will resume in future or face permanent closure.
The decision comes during a period when Ola is strategically reassessing its non-core ventures following similar shutdowns involving Ola Cars and Ola Dash. The current pause includes all ongoing activities under the food delivery vertical.
Ola initially ventured into food delivery in 2015 and re-entered the space more aggressively in 2019 under Ola Foods, leveraging in-house brands and internal logistics.
The latest attempt began in September 2023 when Ola integrated with ONDC to widen its distribution footprint across 100 cities by December 2024.
Although offering food delivery through its flagship ride-hailing app and the government-backed ONDC network marked a strategic shift, limited order volumes and increasing competition restrained progress.
The Indian market continues to be dominated by Swiggy and Zomato, with additional entrants like Rapido launching stand-alone apps such as Ownly.

Ola’s decision to pause its food delivery operations reflects an ongoing strategy to streamline and concentrate on core services. While the future of Ola Foods remains uncertain, the move highlights challenges faced by multi-service platforms in markets dominated by focused players.
