On June 29, 2026, Indian benchmark indices ended lower amid weakness in banking, auto, and IT stocks. However, buying in select pharmaceutical and metal stocks limited the downside.

During the session, the Nifty 50 traded between an intraday high of 24,120.00 and an intraday low of 23,924.55. Trading activity remained active, with 5,884.98 lakh shares changing hands, generating a turnover of ₹47,360.89 crore. 

Out of the 50 constituent stocks, 27 advanced, 23 declined, and none remained unchanged. 

On a broader basis, the Nifty has delivered a 1-month return of 1.69%, while its 1-week return stands at -0.65%.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty Pharma gained 1.03%, Nifty MidSmall Healthcare rose 0.98%, and Nifty Healthcare advanced 0.94%. 

On the downside, Nifty Auto declined 2.08%, Nifty IT fell 1.07%, and Nifty Oil & Gas slipped 1.18%. 

Broader Market Statistics 

As of June 29, 2026, at 4:00 PM, a total of 3,470 stocks were traded on the NSE. Market breadth remained negative, with 1,329 stocks advancing, 2,036 declining, and 105 remaining unchanged.  

During the session, 112 stocks touched their 52-week highs, while 61 stocks hit their 52-week lows. Additionally, 99 stocks were locked in the upper circuit, whereas 13 stocks hit the lower circuit. 

Conclusion 

The Nifty 50 ended below the 24,000 mark on June 29, 2026, as weakness in banking, auto, and IT stocks outweighed gains in pharmaceutical and select metal counters. Market breadth remained positive, with more advancing stocks than declining stocks within the index.
