Mahindra & Mahindra, Samsung Team Up for Digital Key Innovation in eSUVs

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a collaboration with Samsung to introduce digital car keys for its upcoming electric SUVs. The system will be integrated with Samsung Wallet, allowing users to lock, unlock, and start their vehicles without a physical key.
The feature will use NFC technology, which enables secure access through compatible smartphones.
Samsung Wallet Feature
Samsung India’s Senior Director for Services and Apps Business, Madhur Chaturvedi, said Mahindra is the first Indian automobile company to integrate its vehicles with Samsung Wallet. The feature is already available in India for select foreign brands such as BMW, BYD, and Mercedes-Benz.
Launch and Rollout Schedule
Mahindra’s new eSUV models equipped with the digital key feature will be available from November 2025. The rollout for existing vehicles will take place in phases. Owners of eligible Mahindra cars will be able to update their software at Mahindra service centres to activate the feature.
Device Compatibility
The digital key service will be available for users of Samsung Galaxy Z and S series devices launched after 2020. There are also plans to extend support to A-series devices in the future. Once paired, users can operate their vehicles directly through Samsung Wallet without the need for a physical key.
Functioning Without Battery Power
Chaturvedi explained that the NFC-based system will continue to work even if the phone is switched off, as it uses residual battery power. Users will still be able to lock, unlock, and start their vehicles under such conditions.
Expansion Plans
Mahindra and Samsung are in discussions to extend the digital key feature to more Mahindra vehicle models. The technology will be introduced gradually across other variants in the company’s portfolio.
