Larsen & Toubro and BAE Systems Win Indian Army BvS10 Licensed Manufacturing Contract

L&T and BAE Systems have secured an Indian Army contract to indigenously manufacture the BvS10 Sindhu all terrain vehicle.

Larsen & Toubro Limited has announced a licensed manufacturing contract from the Indian Army for the BvS10 Sindhu vehicle, developed in collaboration with BAE Systems. The project strengthens India’s focus on indigenous defence capability. 

L&T to Manufacture BvS10 Sindhu under Indian Army Contract 

The Indian Army has finalised a contract for the BvS10 Sindhu, an upgraded version of the articulated all terrain BvS10 platform. L&T will manufacture the vehicle at its Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira, supported by technical expertise from BAE Systems Hägglunds. The agreement includes a logistics support package for deployment, maintenance and life cycle sustainment. 

Vehicle Capabilities and Trial Performance 

The BvS10 Sindhu has been customised for India’s varied terrain, including high altitude, deserts, marshlands and amphibious zones. The vehicle successfully completed extensive trials demonstrating reliable performance in both sea level and extreme altitude conditions. Its mobility and adaptability form key elements of its operational value for the Army.

Strategic Role in Defence Manufacturing 

The programme supports India’s Make in India vision by combining global technology with domestic production. The project also strengthens supply resilience by localising manufacturing. The modular design of the BvS10 allows configurations for personnel transport, command operations, ambulance service, repair, logistics support and mounted weapons.
