Mumbai, September 24, 2025: Larsen and Toubro announced a strategic partnership with Bharat Electronics Limited to support the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programme for the Indian Air Force, with the consortium set to respond to the Aeronautical Development Agency’s Expression of Interest in the coming weeks.
The collaboration combines L&T’s platform engineering with BEL’s defence electronics to deliver a high-quality solution for India’s 5th-generation fighter, reinforcing self-reliance goals.
The L&T BEL consortium will participate in the Government of India’s EOI for AMCA, pooling systems integration, avionics and aero structure capabilities to meet programme requirements. The partners emphasised timely delivery and world-class standards aligned to the Air Force’s next-gen needs.
Both companies contributed to the Light Combat Aircraft programme, with L&T supplying major aero structure modules and BEL developing mission-critical avionics and electronic systems. This track record underpins execution confidence for a complex 5th-generation platform.
The tie-up advances Atmanirbhar Bharat by strengthening domestic defence manufacturing across high technology domains. It aims to standardise quality and accelerate delivery for future aerospace platforms.

L&T is a $30 billion multinational spanning EPC projects, hi-tech manufacturing and services across geographies, with an 8-decade legacy. BEL, a Navratna PSU under the Defence Ministry, reported sales of $2.74 billion ₹23,024 crore in FY 2024- 25 across 600-plus products and systems.
BEL’s portfolio spans radars, weapons and communication systems, naval and electronic warfare suites, avionics and electro-optics, among others. L&T brings engineering depth and systems integration for defence and aerospace platforms.
