As per Entrackr, Sahil Jindal, Managing Director of the Jindal Group, has stepped into India’s urban mobility market with the launch of Trevel, a chauffeur-driven electric cab service.

The Gurugram-based venture aims to capture demand for city rides and airport transfers, a space long dominated by big ride-hailing platforms.

Trevel’s Business Model and Services

Trevel began operations quietly over the past month with a fleet of MG Windsor electric vehicles. Unlike traditional app-based aggregators, Trevel is currently offering pre-booked, chauffeur-driven EV services with fixed pickup schedules and upfront pricing.

Bookings are available through the company’s website, with Android and iOS mobile applications expected to be launched soon.

The service initially focuses on scheduled city rides and airport transfers and plans to introduce additional vehicle categories in the coming months. A pilot phase included over 50 rides, serving as a test of operations rather than mass demand.

Rationale and Market Positioning

According to Jindal’s LinkedIn post, Trevel was conceptualised after identifying gaps in the ride-hailing experience provided by existing platforms such as Ola, Uber and Rapido.

The service follows a fleet-led model, with vehicles owned or operated by partners aligned to Trevel’s operating framework rather than a pure driver-partner aggregation model.

Competitive Landscape

India’s urban mobility space is intensely competitive, with Ola, Uber and Rapido leading the ride-hailing market by scale and reach.

Trevel’s focus on electric vehicles and chauffeur-driven services positions it differently from the traditional on-demand model that relies on independent drivers. This approach may appeal to riders looking for reliability, comfort and fixed pricing.

Conclusion

As premium EV services gain traction amid growing demand for sustainable mobility options, Trevel’s entry could add another dimension to urban travel choices. The company’s measured expansion, beginning with city and airport rides, will indicate how well it can scale operations and attract a loyal customer base in an established market.
