Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd (JISL) has received an order worth ₹135 crore from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), as per an exchange filing. The contract, placed under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana and PM-KUSUM B Scheme, includes the design, manufacture, supply, transport, installation, testing, and commissioning of 5,438 off-grid DC solar water pumps.

The pumps will be of 3 HP, 5 HP, and 7.5 HP capacities, to be installed in districts across Maharashtra.

Government Scheme Context

The PM-KUSUM B Scheme is a government programme aimed at promoting solar-based irrigation systems in agriculture. The focus is on reducing reliance on grid electricity and diesel-based pumps, and increasing the use of renewable energy in rural areas.

Previous Phase Execution

This order follows the completion of Phase I of the scheme by JISL in December 2024. In that phase, the company installed 4,180 solar pumps valued at ₹103 crore plus GST in Maharashtra. The current allocation builds on that earlier work.
