Grew Solar on Tuesday announced that it has secured a solar module supply order valued at over ₹2,000 crore from NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL).

As per news reports, the order relates to the supply of solar modules for utility-scale power projects being developed by the NTPC group.

Volume and Scope

As part of the contract, Grew Solar will supply 1,464.5 megawatts (MW) of solar modules. The supplies will be made to multiple project sites located across Uttar Pradesh.

The company stated that the order will be executed across different locations rather than a single project site.

Location Details

The projects covered under the supply agreement are spread across various parts of Uttar Pradesh.

The state has seen steady additions of large solar capacity over recent years, driven mainly by central public sector undertakings and their renewable energy subsidiaries.

NTPC Renewable Energy Profile

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd. NTPC Green Energy serves as the renewable energy arm of NTPC Ltd, India’s largest power producer by installed capacity. NTPC REL is responsible for executing renewable projects under the group’s clean energy plans.

Manufacturing Capacity

Grew Solar is expanding its domestic manufacturing base alongside rising order inflows. The company is in the process of increasing capacity at its Dudu manufacturing facility. Once completed, the plant is expected to have a solar module manufacturing capacity of 11 gigawatts (GW).

Domestic Supply and Execution

Large solar module orders from public sector developers have supported demand for domestically produced equipment. Such contracts typically involve phased deliveries linked to construction progress and grid connectivity at individual project locations.

The company did not provide a detailed timeline for the completion of supplies. In similar projects, module deliveries are usually scheduled in batches, as per the reports.
