Gift Nifty Today: Indian Equity Markets Likely to Open Flat Amid Mixed Global Signals

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to begin Wednesday's trading session on a flat note, tracking mixed global cues. While most Asian markets traded in the green, Wall Street closed lower overnight, with the S&P 500 snapping its seven-day winning streak amid profit-taking.

Gift Nifty Update

Gift Nifty was hovering near the 25,212 mark early Wednesday, about 13 points below the previous close of Nifty futures, signaling a muted or flat start for domestic equities.

Asian Market Overview

Asian markets traded higher on Wednesday after the World Bank revised its growth forecast for the region upward. Japan's Nikkei 225 climbed 0.4%, and the Topix gained 0.62%. Futures indicate a positive open for Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index. However, markets in mainland China and South Korea remained closed due to local holidays.

Wall Street Summary

U.S. equities ended lower on Tuesday as investors booked profits following recent gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 91.99 points (0.20%) to close at 46,602.98. The S&P 500 dropped 25.69 points (0.38%) to 6,714.59, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite declined 153.30 points (0.67%) to settle at 22,788.36.

Domestic Market Recap

On Tuesday, Indian equity benchmarks extended their winning run for the fourth consecutive session. The BSE Sensex advanced 136.63 points (0.17%) to settle at 81,926.75, while the NSE Nifty 50 rose 30.65 points (0.12%) to close at 25,108.30.
