GE Aerospace has strengthened its leadership team in India with a senior technology appointment, highlighting the country’s growing importance in its global innovation and engineering network, as per news report.

Leadership Appointment & Role Expansion

Shilpa Gupta has been appointed as Chief Technology Officer for GE Aerospace in India and Site Leader of the John F Welch Technology Centre (JFWTC), Bengaluru.

In this role, Gupta joins the team to lead our Bengaluru-based engineering and research functions, driving technological scale and regional growth.

Most recently, she served as the JFWTC site leader and head of gas power engineering operations for GE Vernova across its Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Noida hubs

The move comes at a time when the aviation sector is navigating supply chain pressures while accelerating investment in advanced technologies and digital capabilities.

Leadership Transition, Strategy & India Operations

Gupta succeeds Alok Nanda, who has taken on a global role as General Manager of Services Engineering at GE Aerospace, focusing on customer outcomes and operational efficiency.

GE Aerospace has been associated with India’s aviation industry for more than 40 years, with around 1,400 GE and partner engines powering major Indian airlines and defence platforms, including the Indian Air Force’s Tejas Mk 1 and Indian Navy vessels.

Its Pune manufacturing facility and 13 local partners support the global supply chain, while the 25-year-old Bengaluru technology centre continues to develop advanced aviation technologies.

Over the past 2 years, the company has announced investments of $44 million to expand manufacturing operations in Pune.
