As per PTI news report, GE Aerospace has announced a fresh investment of $14 million (approximately ₹124 crore) in expanding its Pune-based manufacturing plant. This move is aimed at enhancing production capabilities and supports the Make in India initiative while strengthening India's position in global aerospace manufacturing.
With this additional investment of $14 million in its Pune facility the fresh capital injection follows a previously announced $30 million boost last year, taking the overall investment in the past 2 years to $44 million.
This decade-old facility manufactures parts for jet engines such as GE90, GEnx, GE9X, and LEAP. The LEAP engine itself is made by CFM, a 50:50 joint venture between GE and Safran.
The investment will modernise the unit with upgraded manufacturing and automation technologies to support advanced engine component production. This enhancement is part of the company’s strategy of driving innovation through automated and precision manufacturing processes.
The Pune facility functions with a network of 300 suppliers, contributing to the operation's local sourcing goals. Across India, GE Aerospace works with over 2,200 suppliers to support production at various locations. Over the past 10 years, the Pune facility has trained more than 5,000 production associates in precision manufacturing, supporting skill development and employment.

Starting as a multi-business unit, the Pune site has evolved into a dedicated aerospace parts supplier for GE's global commercial engine operations. Additionally, it benefits from support and integration with the John F Welch Technology Centre in Bengaluru, India's first integrated industrial R&D centre for GE, which recently completed 25 years of operation.
Presently, over 1,400 commercial GE and CFM engines power the aircraft of Indian airline operators, underlining the strategic importance of GE's footprint in India for both domestic and international aviation markets.
With this $14 million investment, GE Aerospace continues its momentum in scaling India's aerospace manufacturing capabilities. The Pune facility's upgraded infrastructure and partnerships with local suppliers reinforce the country’s position as a significant player in the global aviation supply chain.
