FINNIFTY Index Remains Flat as ICICIBANK and BAJFINANCE Advance, While HDFCBANK and BSE Fall on August 25, 2026

The NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICES index is trading practically flat, edging up by a minor 0.02% with key heavyweights showing mixed, offsetting performance.

On August 25, 2026, as of 11:58 AM IST, the NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICES index (FINNIFTY) was trading at 26,162.80, up marginally by 4.30 points or 0.02%. 

NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICES Index Performance 

The NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICES index opened at 26,092.00, carving out a daily trading range between a high of 26,168.35 and a low of 26,034.15.  

The last trading price (LTP) was recorded at 26,162.80, marking a minute 0.02% increase from the previous close of 26,158.50.  

Market breadth stayed largely negative with 6 advances, 14 declines, and 0 unchanged constituents. The overall index volume stood at 3,56,44,231 shares, accumulating a total transactional value of ₹3,011.90 crore. 

Performance of Top Traded Constituents 

ICICI Bank (ICICIBANK) led the positive gains among the major financial players, opening at ₹1,408.00 and advancing by ₹6.90 (0.49%) to reach a last traded price of ₹1,421.90, while Bajaj Finance (BAJFINANCE) also captured solid gains, starting at ₹1,077.00 and expanding by ₹3.60 (0.33%) to sit at an LTP of ₹1,080.60.  

SBIN added to the positive side by ticking up ₹2.20 (0.21%), moving from an open of ₹1,036.00 to trade at ₹1,041.70. Conversely, HDFC Bank faced selling pressure, opening at ₹726.60 and dropping by ₹1.85 (0.25%) to reach an LTP of ₹727.15, while BSE fell notably among the top volume drivers, descending from an opening of ₹3,315.00 to trade at ₹3,301.70, representing a loss of ₹11.00 (0.33%).

Other Key Constituents' Performance 

The remainder of the financial index components displayed highly distributed movements, with Max Financial Services (MFSL) emerging as a notable percentage gainer after jumping by ₹19.10 (1.22%) to arrive at ₹1,588.90, while LIC Housing Finance (LICHSGFIN) grew by ₹3.95 (0.80%) to reach a last traded price of ₹495.35, and Shriram Finance (SHRIRAMFIN) secured a small gain of ₹1.50 (0.13%) to lock at ₹1,120.50.  

On the downside, Axis Bank slipped into the red, losing ₹2.50 (0.20%) to settle at ₹1,233.50, Muthoot Finance (MUTHOOTFIN) dropped by ₹9.00 (0.28%) to post a last traded price of ₹3,200.00, and Kotak Mahindra Bank (KOTAKBANK) shed ₹0.75 (0.19%) from its previous close to match a market price of ₹400.70. 

Conclusion 

The NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICES index recorded an incredibly flat session at 26,162.80, inching up by a minor 0.02%. Balanced forces are at play in the market as steady upside action in ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finance successfully neutralized corrections across HDFC Bank and Axis Bank.
