EIB Global Commits $60 Million to India Energy Transition Fund

EIB Global has invested $60 million in the India Energy Transition Fund to support clean energy and sustainable infrastructure projects across the country.

The European Investment Bank’s development arm, EIB Global, has committed $60 million to the India Energy Transition Fund (IETF), as per the news reports. 

The announcement was made on October 15, 2025, in New Delhi by EIB Vice-President Nicola Beer and EAAA Alternatives CEO Subahoo Chordia. The fund will support India’s energy transition by investing in clean energy and related infrastructure.

Fund Details

The India Energy Transition Fund has a target size of $300 million. It will invest in renewable energy, efficiency, power transmission, battery storage, and electric vehicles. The fund will also consider projects in wastewater management and recycling, aligning with India’s sustainability goals. Investments will focus mainly on greenfield infrastructure and growth-stage companies.

Domestic Management

The IETF is the first energy transition fund in India to be managed by a domestic fund manager. EAAA Alternatives will oversee its operations. The fund is to help bridge capital gaps in clean energy projects and support the development of low-carbon infrastructure. It will help attract private investors interested in long-term sustainable assets.

Partnership Announcement

Speaking at the launch, Nicola Beer said that the collaboration shows ongoing cooperation between India and the European Union in climate and energy. The investment also ties in with the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, which focuses on sustainable development and infrastructure funding in partner countries.

About EAAA Alternatives and EIB Global’s Targets

As of June 30, 2025, EAAA Alternatives managed around $7.3 billion in assets. The firm focuses on alternative investments across infrastructure and sustainability. EIB Global plans to support €100 billion in investments across India and Asia by 2027, covering areas such as clean energy, digital infrastructure, and sustainable finance.
