DPIIT and Hero MotoCorp Partner to Accelerate Startup Innovation
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hero MotoCorp Limited (NSE: HEROMOTOCO) to scale and support early-stage startups through the company’s innovation accelerator programme, Hero For Startups. This collaboration is part of the Government of India’s Startup India initiative.
Focus Areas: Mobility, Clean Technology, and Deep Technology
Under the partnership, DPIIT and Hero MotoCorp will jointly nurture startups focusing on future mobility, clean technology, and deep technology. Selected startups will gain exclusive access to Hero MotoCorp’s world-class research and development facilities in Germany and India. They will also benefit from the company’s extensive network of dealers, suppliers, and partners, along with expert mentorship.
The programme will offer shortlisted startups the opportunity to work on paid Proofs of Concept (PoCs), enabling them to run pilots, validate their solutions, and gain significant market exposure.
Driving Innovation with Industry and Government Collaboration
Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Shri Sanjiv, highlighted that the collaboration will strengthen efforts to empower product-focused startups addressing India’s mobility challenges. “By connecting industry experience with grassroots innovation, we aim to fast-track the journey from idea to impact, especially in emerging technologies and Tier 2/3 markets,” he said.
Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, Dr. Pawan Munjal, emphasised that the company’s role extends beyond being an industry leader to being a nation-builder. He reiterated alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, stressing the importance of a vibrant startup ecosystem in making India self-reliant and globally competitive.
