India’s aviation regulator has confirmed the completion of refund processing for passengers affected by a spate of flight cancellations earlier this month, while outlining additional relief measures offered by the airline.

Refund Status and Compensation Framework

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation stated that all refunds linked to IndiGo flights cancelled between December 3 and 5, 2025 have been cleared and returned to the original mode of payment.

The regulator said it remained engaged with the airline on refund timelines and passenger compensation for disruptions during the three-day period.

Passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure during this window may submit compensation claims through IndiGo’s website, where applicable.

Additional Relief Offered by IndiGo

IndiGo has also rolled out an additional customer support measure titled “Gesture of Care” for travellers impacted by cancellations or delays exceeding three hours during December 3–5.

Under this initiative, eligible passengers will receive two travel vouchers valued at ₹5,000 each, amounting to ₹10,000, with a validity of 12 months. The airline has enabled passengers to submit details and verify eligibility online.

Background to the Disruptions

The operational issues in early December followed the rollout of new flight duty norms on November 1, 2025, which led to a pilot shortage and triggered more than 3,500 cancellations.

The regulator also advised passengers to ensure correct contact details are provided at the time of booking to facilitate timely communication on schedule changes.

Conclusion

With refunds now completed and additional compensation avenues available, the regulator and airline have moved to close the chapter on the December disruptions, even as the episode underscores the scale of challenges faced during the transition to new operating norms.
