Colab Platforms Share Price Hits Upper Circuit as It Signs MoU With RRP Drones For Drone Technology

Colab Platforms Limited has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RRP Drones Innovation Private Limited, part of the RRP Group, as per the exchange filings. The MoU outlines cooperation on the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered aerial surveillance drones.
Creation of SPV
Both companies intend to form a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the Companies Act, 2013. The SPV will focus on developing and commercialising multi-purpose drones. The stated applications include agriculture, industrial monitoring, energy and infrastructure, law enforcement, border patrol, and defence.
Entry Into Drone Technology
This agreement is Colab Platforms’ entry into the drone sector. The company currently operates in areas such as digital ventures, esports, sports infrastructure, and fintech. The collaboration adds a new vertical centred on aerospace and autonomous drone systems.
Industry Context
According to available estimates, the global commercial drone market could reach between $55 billion and $90 billion by 2030, with annual growth in the range of 7.7% to 14.3%. In India, the sector is projected at around ₹1.95 lakh crore (approximately $23 billion) by 2030.
Government Programmes
Adoption of drones in India is being encouraged through policy measures. These include a Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme valued at ₹120 crore and subsidies under the Kisan Drone programme. Such initiatives are aimed at expanding drone usage across agriculture and other industries.
Colab confirmed that no shareholding exists between the parties and that the agreement does not fall under related-party transactions. The MoU records the understanding to work jointly, but final terms, including financial contributions and technical roles, will be defined through the SPV.
