Cashfree Payments Rolls Out In-Chat Payments to AI Apps with Mastercard and Swiggy

Cashfree Payments on Tuesday, February 17, introduced “Cashfree Here”, an in-chat payments extension built with Mastercard and Swiggy that allows users to complete UPI and card payments directly inside AI chat applications, as per news reports.
AI Chat Platforms Get Native Checkout Layer
The new solution was unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 and is designed to let users finish transactions within conversational interfaces instead of moving to separate checkout pages.
The company said this targets a structural gap in AI-driven commerce flows, where product discovery and decision-making happen inside chat, but payments usually require users to exit the interface.
Cashfree Here supports embedded UPI and card payments inside AI environments developed on OpenAI’s Apps SDK and Anthropic’s MCP framework, enabling merchants to plug payments into chat-based journeys.
Security, Use Cases and Business Impact
For card transactions, Mastercard provides passkey-based biometric authentication, replacing OTP flows with device-level biometric validation for user approval.
For customers, this means purchases such as food orders and service bookings can be completed within the same AI chat window where queries and recommendations occur.
For businesses, Cashfree said the embedded model simplifies integration and can improve checkout completion by reducing payment friction. The system runs on the company’s existing payments stack and is PCI-compliant.
