Brightcom Group Share Price in Focus; Appoints Defence Scientist Dr. Prahlada Ramarao as Advisor

Brightcom Group (NSE: BCG) has appointed Dr. Prahlada Ramarao, a veteran defence scientist and key contributor to India’s missile programmes, as Advisor to CMD M Suresh Kumar Reddy. The move comes shortly after the company announced its entry into the defence sector through Brightcom Defence.

Dr. Ramarao is widely known as the “Father of the Akash Missile” and has held senior roles at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), including Distinguished Scientist & Chief Controller (R&D), as per PTI report.
His work spans missile projects such as Akash, BrahMos, Prithvi, Agni, and Nag. He also led the Defence Research and Development Laboratory and served as Vice Chancellor of the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology.
Brightcom Defence Initiative
In its recent board meeting, Brightcom announced the formation of Brightcom Defence, a new subsidiary focusing on advanced aerospace intelligence and autonomous aerial defence systems. Planned capabilities include:
- AI-powered UAV flight systems
- Real-time threat detection and drone swarm coordination
- Cybersecurity solutions for aerial platforms
- Mission simulation engines
The company highlighted its expertise in AI, machine learning, and real-time analytics as a foundation for this diversification.
Share Price Performance
Brightcom Group’s share price stood at ₹17.12, down 1.78% (-₹0.31) at 11:20 AM on the NSE from the previous close of ₹17.43. The stock touched a high of ₹17.70 and a low of ₹16.55, with a VWAP of ₹17.02.
