Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), one of India’s leading power equipment manufacturers, has won two major thermal power projects in Madhya Pradesh.
The company received Notifications of Award from M.P. Power Generating Company Ltd. (MPPGCL) for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) packages valued between ₹13,000 crore and ₹15,000 crore, excluding taxes and duties. This is a significant addition to BHEL’s order book and strengthens its position in the domestic power sector.
The contracts involve the construction of two advanced supercritical thermal power plants:

Under these contracts, BHEL will manage the complete project, including:
This end-to-end responsibility showcases BHEL’s expertise in delivering turnkey power plant solutions efficiently and reliably.
Each plant is expected to be completed within 57 months from the award date. The notifications were received on September 29, giving BHEL a clear but challenging timeline to complete these projects on schedule.
With a combined contract value between ₹13,000 crore and ₹15,000 crore, these projects will significantly enhance BHEL’s revenue and financial outlook over the coming years. Such large-scale orders are crucial for sustaining growth in the competitive power equipment industry.
The projects reinforce BHEL’s strong presence in India’s power equipment market and highlight its ability to win large contracts through advanced technology. Supercritical thermal power plants are more efficient and environmentally friendly compared to traditional plants, supporting India’s goal of enhancing power generation while reducing emissions.
BHEL share price has shown strong long-term performance, with a five-year gain of 712.82%, though it has experienced short-term fluctuations. Recent returns include +1.70% for one day and +12.03% over one month.
