BANK NIFTY Index Sees Decline as AUBANK and ICICI Bank Advance, While HDFC Bank and SBIN Fall on August 25, 2026

On August 25, 2026, as of 9:52 AM, The BANK NIFTY index was trading at 57,491.50, down by 34.45 points or 0.06%.  

BANK NIFTY Index Performance 

The BANK NIFTY index opened at 57,360.65, making an early trading range between a high of 57,653.85 and a low of 57,231.25. The last trading price (LTP) was recorded at 57,491.50. 

The index witnessed a marginal decline of 34.45 points, marking a 0.06% decrease from the previous close of 57,525.95. The trading volume stood at 3,05,20,776 shares, with a total transactional value of ₹726.17 crore. 

Performance of Major Banks 

AU Small Finance Bank (AUBANK) led the positive movement among key players, opening at ₹1,114.00 and rising by ₹19.00, or 1.71%, to reach a last traded price of ₹1,133.00.  

ICICI Bank also pushed higher from an opening price of ₹1,408.00 to trade at ₹1,418.00, securing a minor advance of ₹3.00 or 0.21%.  

Conversely, HDFC Bank faced downward pressure, opening at ₹726.60 and slipping by ₹1.80 or 0.25% to settle at ₹727.20.  

State Bank of India (SBIN) similarly weighed on the index, starting the session at ₹1,036.00 and declining by ₹4.70 or 0.45% to a last traded price of ₹1,034.80. 

Other Banks' Performance 

The rest of the banking constituents showed highly mixed results across the board. Within the advancing segment, Canara Bank (CANBK) remained practically flat with a micro gain of ₹0.01 or 0.01% at ₹127.31, while Axis Bank (AXISBANK) edged up by ₹0.20 or 0.02% to trade at ₹1,236.20.  

Bank of Baroda (BANKBARODA) managed a slightly stronger positive move, gaining ₹0.49 or 0.20% to reach ₹241.99.  

On the losing side, Kotak Mahindra Bank (KOTAKBANK) dropped by ₹1.75 or 0.44% to trade at ₹399.70, followed by Union Bank of India (UNIONBANK), which fell ₹0.56 or 0.31% to settle at ₹183.04.  

Yes Bank (YESBANK) experienced a small correction as well, easing down by ₹0.02 or 0.09% to end at a last traded price of ₹22.58. 

Broader Market Impact 

The 52-week high for the BANK NIFTY index stands at 61,764.85, while the 52-week low is at 49,954.85. Over the last 30 days, the index performance reflects a positive change of 1.41%.  

Conclusion 

The BANK NIFTY index last traded at 57,491.50, registering a minute slide of 0.06%. Mixed market sentiments are visible as strong gains from AUBANK and ICICI Bank are offset by corrections in heavyweights like HDFC Bank and State Bank of India.
