Accenture has submitted a plan to set up a new campus in Andhra Pradesh. The company aims to add about 12,000 jobs in India over time, as per Reuters. With more than 790,000 employees worldwide, over 300,000 of them are already based in India.
The proposal includes a request for about 10 acres of land in Visakhapatnam. The land is sought under a state policy that allows large firms to lease plots at a nominal rate in exchange for job creation commitments. Officials said the proposal is being examined.
As per the news reports, an official stated that the request made by Accenture is not unreasonable. While the approval process may take some time, the plan is expected to be cleared. The company has not yet shared details on the scale of investment for the campus.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Cognizant have already secured land in Visakhapatnam under the same policy. Their upcoming campuses are projected to create nearly 20,000 jobs combined. Cognizant has committed around $183 million, while TCS has allocated slightly above $154 million.
IT firms are moving operations to smaller cities to reduce costs related to land, rent, and salaries. Post-pandemic hiring patterns have also shifted, with companies finding it easier to recruit locally in tier-2 cities rather than relying only on major hubs.
The proposal comes as U.S. visa policies grow stricter. A $100,000 fee for new H-1B visas has been introduced, impacting companies that depend on foreign skilled workers. This has pushed firms to focus more on strengthening domestic operations.

If approved, Accenture’s new campus in Andhra Pradesh would join similar projects by other IT companies in Visakhapatnam, contributing significantly to local employment.
