Soach Global Strategic Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Soach Global Opportunities Fund, is selling 20% of its stake in the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) through an initial public offering (IPO), as per news reports.  

The fund acquired 1,50,000 NSE shares in January 2016, which have grown to 82,50,000 shares over a decade. 

Details of the Stake Sale in NSE IPO 

As per news reports, Soach Global is selling 16,50,000 equity shares, representing 20% of its holding, at an IPO price band of ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per share.  

This sale is valued between ₹280 crore and ₹295 crore, achieving a return of approximately 25 times the original investment. The fund will retain 66,00,000 shares, valued at ₹1,120 crore to ₹1,180 crore at the IPO price band. 

Investment Background and Strategy 

The fund initially acquired its NSE shares from Industrial Finance Corporation of India Limited (IFCI) at ₹3,950 per share, totalling ₹59.25 crore.  

Over the years, the holding increased to 82,50,000 shares through corporate actions, with an adjusted acquisition cost of ₹71.8 per share.

Soach Global's Long-Term Vision 

Anubhav Dayal, Founder & Director of Soach Global Opportunities Fund, emphasised the importance of retail participation in the capital markets. He likened the investment in NSE shares to buying gold, which is traditionally held for long periods.  

The NSE, as a multi-asset-class trading platform, is expected to continue its growth trajectory, benefiting both institutional and retail investors.
